About Lauren
Lauren has always been fascinated with the weather and its natural phenomena. She attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology. During her time at A&M, she was able to hone her skills with an internship at KBTX in College Station, Texas, where Lauren worked alongside a team of experienced meteorologists.
Straight out of college, Lauren began her career as a Weekend Meteorologist and Multimedia Journalist at CBS7, the top-ranked news station in Odessa, Texas. Due to the large coverage area, she was responsible for forecasting for many types of terrain stretching from southeastern New Mexico to the Rio Grande. She experienced reporting on a variety of weather events, including the devastating February 2021 winter storm. After spending time in West Texas, she then moved to Denver, Colorado and joined the WeatherNation team, where Lauren explained the scientific reasoning behind the weather story to over 30 million viewers across the country. Lauren has mastered intricate metrological skills including forecasting nationally for every type of weather event from blizzards to hurricanes. In addition, she has been a top contender in social media as well a publisher of everyday weather-related news articles.
Lauren is proficient in many different areas of meteorology such as analyzing radar data, detecting severe weather, and forecasting, and is skilled at coding languages such as Python and Matlab. Also, she has grasped the ability to tell the weather story by translating complex scientific jargon and concepts into something understandable and relatable to the public. Her goal is to inspire the community by sharing her love and knowledge of meteorology!
